Somerset Progressive School helps children toward a better future by supporting our pupils in the change and growth that will lead to progress and success. We provide individually tailored packages of education for boys and girls aged from 7-19. We provide a safe, caring and supportive environment which will encourage the development of friendly and caring relationships, where learning and living can be enjoyable experiences.
Curriculum provision precludes the promotion of partisan political views in the teaching of any subject in the school. Where political issues are brought to the attention of pupils they are offered a balanced presentation of opposing views.
Although we do not have a sports hall on site, we do have large outside playing areas and space for indoor games. We have developed our own Forest School and Animal areas within the school site.
Outdoor activities form an important part of children’s education. They enhance Curriculum work and promote the personal and social development of young children as well as contributing to their understanding of particular areas of learning, subjects and topics.
Here at Somerset Progressive School we have dedicated Outdoor education lessons and throughout our Curriculum aim to give children regular opportunities to use community facilities to extend and consolidate their learning. These include visiting local and town shops, museums and art galleries, the park and visits to nature centres.
